Gold Cystoscope Award

The Gold Cystoscope Award may be presented annually to a urologist distinguished by outstanding contributions to the profession.

Criteria: individual must be within ten (10) years of completing residency training calculated using the Awards presentation year minus the year originally graduated residency.

For innovative translational research and significant contributions to the fields of sexual dysfunction and urologic oncology.

For outstanding contributions as a physician-scientist in renal carcinoma research, clinical excellence and education.

For seminal contributions to urologic oncology in the areas of epigenomics, oncologic biomarkers and predictive nomograms.

Benjamin K. Canales MD, MPH

For exemplary research initiatives in the pathogenesis of nephrolithiasis which include the development of new animal models and the exploration for novel therapeutic approaches.

Matthew R. Cooperberg, MD, MPH

For highly successful and outstanding contributions as a clinician-scientist in prostate cancer and health services research, and as a key participant in the launch of the AUA Quality Registry.

For outstanding contributions in the areas of mechanical and cavitational tissue ablation through the development of a new therapeutic technology known as histotripsy.

For outstanding contributions to the field of urologic oncology, most notably the treatment of prostate cancer and the development of novel techniques to improve the outcomes of robotic prostatectomy.

For outstanding contributions in the field of bladder and prostate cancer, as well as the integration of evidence-based urological oncology into clinical pathways, practice guidelines and the AUA Core Curriculum.
