Comments: This position is designed for individuals working towards advanced post-graduate research training in Urologic Oncology. The Research Fellow conducts research projects in Urologic Oncology, with a specific focus on utilizing health-services research methods in the analysis of large data-sets. The fellow will gain experience in a wide array of observational data analysis tools and practical application of these methods in projects focused on Genito-urinary malignancies and surgical outcomes. The fellow is expected to actively participate in designing new protocols and overseeing ongoing clinical research projects, both observational and prospective. There will also be a specific focus devoted to clinical trials as well as translational projects. Fellows will be supported by experienced faculty (Drs. Comments: The UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals Pediatric Urology Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited, two-year program that accepts one fellow annually. Designed for board-certified urologists pursuing subspecialty certification, the fellowship combines a comprehensive clinical year with a second year dedicated to either pediatric urology research (Standard Track) or a combined clinical and research experience in Transitional Urology. Fellows receive broad exposure to the full spectrum of pediatric urology across UCSF’s San Francisco and Oakland campuses, including complex reconstruction, fetal intervention, transplantation, spina bifida, urodynamics, disorders of sex development, pediatric oncology, and transitional urology, while working alongside a multidisciplinary team of specialists. The program emphasizes academic development through robust basic science, clinical, and health services research opportunities supported by dedicated research infrastructure, biostatistical expertise, and optional formal training in epidemiology and biostatistics, preparing graduates to become compassionate clinicians, accomplished investigators, and future leaders in pediatric urology.
