Brown’s Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Fellowship has evolved over the years, adapting to an ever-changing healthcare landscape. The fellowship covers all areas of minimally invasive urology, and gives the fellow an opportunity to develop a focus in a particular area of interest (e.g. robotic oncology, complex stone disease). Brown Urology faculty for the fellowship has grown to include 3 Fellowship trained Robotic Oncologists (Johns Hopkins, MSKCC) and 3 Fellowship trained Endourologists (Wisconsin, Brown, Northwestern). Recent funding has allowed for optimization of research support, including IRB, grant writing, and internal and national database access. The fellow is responsible for coverage of all minimally invasive urologic surgical procedures (percutaneous renal surgery, endourology, laser enucleation, focal therapy of prostate cancer, laparoscopy, and robotics) cases on his/her operating room days. The fellow may be asked to interact with our residents during certain cases, but as “teaching faculty.” The fellow will have an appointment at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 1. The subspecialty training in minimally invasive urologic surgery will provide an experience of sufficient level for the trainee to acquire advanced skills in each of these areas. The fellow will work with current residents in the Brown University Urology program. The fellow may staff cases deemed appropriate by the program director as a junior faculty for current Brown urology residents. The fellow may develop a focus in a particular area of minimally invasive/endourological surgery during their year. 2. QUALIFICATION OF THE APPLICANT The applicant will have completed an ACGME approved residency in urology and be eligible to sit for part I of the American Board of Urology qualifying examination.
